Is there anything I need to worry about when I go to remove the old filter?
Such as, Is the fuel line still under high pressure, with the key turned off???
Thanks for the help .

You will need to bleed off the pressure. I had a 96 S-10 PUP and I believe on the driver side dash is a fuse panel. with the engine running, pull the fuel pump fuse and let idle until engine quits. I am guessing you already know the filter location. One good thing on 97 and later models was the side from the filter to injector system was plastic and flexible making it easier to change the filter vs a 96 since steel lines were used on both sides of the filter making it a challenge.

About the spark plug….take the shroud off behind the drivers side front tire. You have straight through access to the plug. I had a 1994 and 2000. As for the gas, I don’t know why it would be black unless your line is rusting. Try running Lucas gas treatment. Don’t use those other cheap bottles of treatment. It could just be the contaminents coming from the old filter.

There’s going to be fuel in the line, no way to prevent that but it won’t have pressure as long as the key is off.

first of all is this a regular maintanace check
or are u having fuel problems.as long as the ignition is off there wont be any pressure in the line.also if u are not getting enough pressure to the engine it could be your fuel pump getting ready to go south.
